When Christmas time comes around, many of us run around like headless chickens to cross everyone off our Christmas list, as if in an Amazing Race to get everyone that matters (and even those that really don’t) something (anything) for the age-old holiday habit or perceived (and poorly conceived) social responsibility of gift-giving, while braving through traffic and mall queues in the least amount of time.

Gift-giving is not among my strong love languages, and I believe that gift-giving should come from a place of gratitude and sincerity, and from a place of understanding what really matters to a person and what can really make their day.

Veg Finds I: Agico Vegetarian Cafe

My mom and I are on the hunt for vegetarian restaurants in Metro Manila. Our newest discovery is the Agico Vegetarian Cafe in San Juan. I love the veg-life, and I never want to go back to eating animals, but sometimes I crave for good ol’ burgers. This was the perfect place to satisfy that craving because their veggie burgers are amazing!

Marikina’s Hidden Treasures: Macky’s Goto

I am absolutely in love with the city of Marikina. Macky’s Goto is yet another reason to love the city even more. I’ve read & heard so many good things about this hole-in-the-wall restaurant so my family and I just had to give it a try.

After eating here we also bought the best puto kutsinta in the world from a nearby store. I swear, this is the puto of your life.

My family ordered the goto & tokwa’t baboy and they all loved it. I got the Sam-friendly version (plain lugaw & tokwa). The lugaw was good, but the real winner for me was the crispy tokwa swimming in their AMAZING suka (vinegar). I was that they actually cook their vinegar mix in a giant pot (I’d like to get my hands on that!)
